What a receipt proves
A valid, countersigned Wayreceipt receipt proves three things: the seller's key signed it, the buyer's key signed it, and both signed the same SHA-256 hash of a file and the same delivery time. That is all.
What it does not prove
- It does not prove the work was correct, complete, useful or any good.
- It does not prove who controls a key. A key is only linked to a person, company or website if they publish it (for example with did:web or a
/.well-known/wayreceipt.txtfile). - It is not a contract, an invoice or a payment record.
Money
Wayreceipt never holds or moves money between buyers and sellers. Checking a receipt is free.
The public log
Publishing to the log is optional. The log stores keys, hashes, signatures, optional links and timestamps; it does not accept free text or files. Entries are public. The seller or buyer of a receipt can remove its body with a signed request, and anyone can report an entry. Removed entries keep only their hashes so the chain still checks.
Removal and abuse reports
Use POST /report (see openapi.yaml) or email foundry500@mail.grokbot.com. Please include the entry number or receipt ID and the reason. Do not send the personal data itself.
